Kristin Gruenberger
Artist Bio
Kristin Gruenberger’s whimsical ceramic work ignites the imagination and draws the viewer into a storybook and down the rabbit hole. Each piece creates an experience, introducing a sense of play as it is both utilized and visually enjoyed. Ceramic form and surface are explored through altering, texturing, incising and glazing techniques. Each piece begins as a basic wheel thrown form of function, then becoming an object of curiosity that evokes a sense of childlike wonderment.
Kristin graduated with a BFA in ceramics from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2011. Since graduating, she has further enhanced her knowledge of ceramics through assistantships, lectures and workshops. As her work develops, she has been exhibiting in art festivals, galleries and local stores in Colorado and the Southwest region. Native to Colorado, she has been active in the Denver art scene, working with outreach programs and offering workshops to promote art within the community. She has taught at various art centers in the metro area and continues to teach private lessons. Currently, she is working as a full time ceramic artist in Gunnison, CO and teaching classes on form and surface at the Art Students League of Denver, the Gunnison Arts Center and the Crested Butte Clay Studio.
